I came upon this recipe for semi-homemade cream cheese danish the other day and I couldn't wait to share it.
Actually, I've made these danishes before, a while back. I think maybe a year ago.
A couple of weeks ago, we were going to my sister-in-law's house for breakfast and I usually take something along to share. This recipe suddenly popped into my head and I ran to the computer to scrounge my Pinterest boards to see if I had remembered to pin it back then. And sure enough, I had.
Thank goodness for Pinterest!
These are really easy to make. And they are so delicious. The wonderful thing this, you can control the amount of sugar. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of white sugar. I only used 1/4 cup. I figured with the icing on top, they would be sweet enough, and sure enough, they were.
And depending on how thick you slice them, you can control the portion size, too. Last time I sliced them about 1/4 inch thick. This time, I went for a more robust danish and I have to say, I liked them better on the smaller side.
And finally, I went
stingy with a smaller amount of the icing as well.
Is someone on a diet???
Nope. Just trying to have an excuse to eat more than just one!
Hello my lovelies!
The beauties right before baking.
Is it obvious I *kinda* like food? :D
Maymunah came up to me as I was writing this post a few days ago, saw this on the screen, and said, "Do you have any more of those?"
The kids really loved them.
Oh, one last thing. Under bake them just a teeny little bit. I left them in the oven for about 17 minutes and they came out a little too crispy. I prefer my danishes to be stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth soft!
